WORK TOOLS FOR MANUFACTURED WOODEN ARTICLES
Another important indication is given by the mark of the tools used for the manufacture of wood. For example, the electric saw which leaves a more regular and continuous trace than the hand saw. Infact this last one even if precise, is more irregular and discontinuous.
The use of the type of saw can be evidenced in those hidden parts of furniture as for example in the bottom of the solid drawers, or on the inner sides of the structure, or in the lower part of the sitting, etc.

Likewise is possible to verify the use of mechanical plane looking against the light. We can notice some small bumps (hollows derived from laminar iron) in the inside parts of the furniture and often in the external ones if the wood has not been properly ground.
It is the same for the use of the electric drill.

A further consideration is that the craftsman of the past, having much time, could make a better finished piece of work than today's craftsman do. So, we see that on with today's machinery the result is clearer but maybe is a less neat work. Today we notice for example a joint of a swallow's tail with inexact gathers, while for antique furniture is the contrary.
